The New Adventures of a Retired & Rescued Greyhound

Zeke the Woof-Woof, born April 14, 2003 in the USA, raced 93 races between Wonderland Greyhound Park and Raynham-Tauton Park from September 18, 2004 until October 1, 2006 under the name of “New Deputyintown.”  Winning 7 races from 2005-2006 and finishing in 2nd place 16 times throughout his racing career, Zeke was then retired and placed for adoption at the Greyhound Placement Service of New Hampshire in January 2007 due to injured toes.

Adopted on Sunday, February 18, 2007 by Elsie Ng.  Introduced to his new family pack including 2 feline siblings:  Tamba & Figaro.  Zeke is last of the pack.  He’s cool with it.

Zeke is an unusually sensitive and aware greyhound and lives a life apart from the average hound.*  Many of his new adventures include loving greyhound-rearing tactics that may not work for all hounds! (Best to consult a professional when attempting any training techniques.)  It is a combination of accountable knowledge of all animals involved that make these tactics or techniques viable.  Please be aware that all greyhounds make fabulous pets!  They are all good natured and well-mannered.  But they are also each highly individual and depend on their rapport with their new moms, dads & family to guide them.

*It is not recommended to introduce your greyhound to small animals such as your family cat without a muzzle.

This was her first outing in a city park.  They lived in the country prior to our move to Boston!  She didn’t like it.  Too much open space (no trees or other ground cover), too many cars too close by & that stupid train ~the Boston “T”!!!

She was carried in a canvas shoulder bag from apartment to park... because of the dangerous traffic issues.  Neither cats are allowed to walk the city streets... or any street!  They may only walk in the yard, on hiking trails or anywhere connected to the yard without crossing any streets.  Tamba is exceptionally traffic savvy, thus the experience of a city park.  Figaro hates the city.  He would have clung to me for dear life and never let me put him down!  Both cats have ALL their claws.
